Our changing of the rooms has begun. In my fantasy life I am a decorator with flair of ultimate taste, as long as it is fantasy go big. I like many women watch HGTV with gusto, I get inspired and amazed how a bucket of paint and some cleaning up can make a beautiful room. I will not be painting this summer thankfully. All I am doing is moving Gator into Dunk’s old room, and Sconicle is getting his own room. Dunk will “camp out” with Sconicle till he is fully gone. Dunk has several camps and orientations to go to, plus with his social calendar he sleeps here but that is about it. We see him for about fifteen minutes a day if that.
Gator wants his theme to be camouflage as well as Sconicle, I would prefer somebody not to choose camo but I doubt I can convince either of them to change their minds. I plan to add animals to Sconicle’s with a touch of red. If I told him, he would protest it.
Sconicle’s room is planning to be a bit more fanciful just because he is still young. Gator only wants the media center, bed and his clothes. He truly wants his bow to be a decoration in his room. My creativity is lost on Gator. I am just a housekeeper with a new bed bag.
Dunk has a messy room, so our plan was for Dunk to clean it before he left to the convention. That didn’t happen, we have to finish the job he started. The amount of wrappers one teenage boy can hide under the bed with the help of two naughty dogs is outrageous! We had planned to put down a laminate floor for Gator, but with so much cleaning, to do we have opted to postpone the floor. Maybe over a parent teacher conference day, the hardest part will be moving a lot of heavy furniture in a small crowded house.
Dunk’s dorm room plans are a mystery to me, as a teenage boy he plans to buy as little as possible in hopes that moving in will be quick and easy. I predict his selection will be blue, but I could be wrong. Gator can’t wait to shop and Dunk is dreading shopping, putting it off till the last moment. My boys have always been three distinct personalities and each day those differences show more and more.
Let me clarify something, I have excellent taste when decorating Art Deco, but other styles I truly struggle with how you get it to all go together. Art Deco has easy ways of making it look fabulous, which is why I have loved it so. It is truly decorating for dummies 101. Don’t be surprised if I hate everything about the boy’s room, but I bet they will love them!

Stumble It!

4 spoke out:
My boys, age 8 and 11, share a bedroom that is still decorated in the Susan Winget Noah's Ark theme I chose before they were born. I am not a decorator. It takes me ages to get a room the way I want it, and then I NEVER want to change it. I did my girl's room in a green ivy theme, since that is suitable for any age so I won't have to feel bad about never changing it. My cleaning lady has begged me to allow HER to redecorate my boys' room, and I would take her up on it if there weren't so much MONEY invited... I'm a baby chicken - cheep cheep cheep
HEB!
You are worse than me! Sconicle has a room that he has since he was a toddler. I made the curtains, as did Dunks, I will make the boys curtains. It will take some time for me to find the fabric, but it will look better than now.
Right now Sconicle and Gator's room is a primary football theme. Since Sconicle hates football (don't know where that came from) I feel the need to change it.
The only thing I will buy is a bedspread of some kind, and fabric!
Sconicle hates football??? Quick!!! Find that boy some help!!! It's not too late!!
As for the decorating......i'd give anything just to have the time to do it. Most likely though, i'd have the time and no money lol. ::sigh::
Oh well, i'll be rich someday and i'll hire someone to do it for me. That's my theory anyway.
Nessa,
I have tried and tried, I thought he would love Football! He has been to enough games, he wont even watch it with Granny!
ahh hiring a decorator that would be fun one day, right after I find that million dollar treasure!
