A Tribute Tony Snow

It is with great regret that I pay tribute to a wonderful man that has passed away. Tony Snow passed away on July 12, 2008. Tony was first diagnosed with colon cancer in the early part of 2005, I know this because I was diagnosed April 2005, Tony spoke of cancer being a blessing to him in a way that touched me. You have to be where we have been to understand how he felt. Not all survivors feel this way, but Tony and I shared the same view on Cancer. God blessed me by knowing my feelings about my life before the beast were the same as Tony's.

Here is a link to Tony's words of Inspiration. Remember right now even as his family is grieving they can reread these words and remember how much he loved them and his Lord.

Tony Snow Christianity Today

He is survived by his wife Jill and three children. Tony did everything he could to fight the beast. He was a warrior in every sense of the word. May God be with Tony's family and friends today.

I have decided that while I am going on, for now Tony and his tribute has to remain on top. Please understand, his battle with the beast was personal to me. Never met him but watched and listened to him for years. Maybe in a few days I can let this go but for now I can't.

Tony's Family has decided to set a memorial place for donations in honor of Tony. I think it came from public outcry to honor Tony, the money will go for Colon Cancer Research here is a link: Tony's Honor

awwww, sorry this is hitting you so hard sweets. Me and the girls i work with were talking this morning about how much we'll miss him and what he brought to the White House. One of them read a story i think on CNN saying that he had once done an impression of Dr. Evil from that Austin Powers movie when a reporter was irritating him. He told the reporter to " Zip it". lol

Anyway, don't you worry, you keep Tony at the top as long as you need to, those of us who luvs ya, can scroll or wait til you're ready.

Big Huggggggggggs.

A statement made in the CT article hit me. "It is what it is..." This is similar to my sentiment as the ambulance carried my husband away to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after his heart attack. Both my husband and I are Christian (he was "Wesleyan Holiness", I am "Calvinistic Baptist"), but we both shared a common predestinarian belief and a strong faith in the Sovereignty of an Almighty God.

While I firmly believe there is nothing "natural" about death or dying, we can still find rest in the Saviour and hope in the Resurrection as we face what must come. As Paul said in 1Cor 15:55 "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" All I can say is, thank God for Jesus. I really don't know how I would've dealt with my husband's illness and death without Him, and I'm confident He will walk with me along the road that's ahead of me as I face the consequences of my fallen nature.

Susan he was a great musician, only he called himself a garage musician!

Hp Jesus is the way, and I am fortunate somebody has steered me to that article right after he wrote it in 2005. I hope it blesses as many as I am when I read Tony's faith in his walk!

Jacqueline,
Thanks it did, I am cancer free. But for the grace of God Go I, you just never know which ones will get the second call and which will not make it. His optimism is what made Tony easy to enjoy and admire.

How wonderful of you to post about Tony Snow! What a wonderful man he was. I too am a cancer survivor, almost 3 years out ~ WooHoo!! (from a rare type of throat cancer) Each day is so precious! The continual fear that accompanies cancer , I think, is the hardest part to overcome. For all of us, reading things similar to what Tony Snow wrote, give us all great comfort and hope. Strength, Courage and Hope, always Hope, each day!

Hey Tina, Remember when Nixon declared war on cancer in 1971 ? The number of cancer deaths has been rising ever since then. Over 500,000 people died from cancer last year. Whatever we are doing, it is not working. I watched what happened to Tony as he took chemotherapy. He degenerated fairly quickly. I think Chemo kills more people than it helps. There are new therapies that are showing much more promise. If it can be done without chemotherapy, I would choose that way instead. Too bad Tony was not aware of this. Here are some links:
