Let the Games Begin!

As this is posted I am a at a football game. Our school does the first scrimmage as a late night game in full pads. Since it is hotter than Hades in Texas, perhaps this time at night is the lowest temperature. It is Gator’s first high school game. Dunk is at college freshman camp. We are heading out in a few minutes. Gator eats and breathes football. The only person that loves football more than him in my family is me.

This year will be the hard year for me for football. I worry about my kids as freshman playing football. I just feel they tend to get picked on that year. Dunk had his cousin as a protector, matter of fact all the seniors knew him so he was perfectly fine. Gator is playing nose guard. I think he will do well. He loves to hit people. Gator rarely has the emotion fear. Football requires a lack of fear, and confidence in your body to react. Varsity should win, matter of fact it would be rare if they didn’t. Gator will try his hardest I am sure, there is always a big play for him, sometimes more than one or two. He seems tired though, and he is not my night owl.

He is low man on the totem pole, and as hard as it is Gator will come through the test. Update Gator did well, he is sore and in bed as we speak. Ahh the football recovery, frozen peas and Advil, we know the routine well. Being a scrimmage they don’t keep score, he had some hard hits, got clipped but his team didn’t drop the ball three times like the other team did. It was wonderful for Gator.

Stumble It!
