I need Good Music!

I love simple. The more simple I have in my life the better my life is. The Grand Ole Opry is the true home of country music. I have been there, yeah baby but it was closed unlike Gretchen the doors were locked!

You take simple and the Grand Ole Opry and you get what or who? Oh Easy Zac Brown Band and the great song Chicken Fried!

The stock market is in the tank, we are all trying to figure out what we are going to do next. But watch Zac and relax!

Tough Times

Tough times are ahead. I think we all know it, what is not agreed about is how to deal with the tough times. Personally, I think you need to let bad businesses and banks fail, bailing out one will lead to more. Now even the NBA with it’s million dollar TV deals wants money.

The reason a business failed is that the way it was working was not a success. Let’s say a gambler kept losing, yet they kept coming to you saying this time they knew what they did wrong and they planned to win. Would you loan them money and expect a payback? No, not for a minute. These companies are not different. They are clueless what put them there, the CEOs with private planes and bonuses refuse to see anything wrong with their behavior. To be honest I know why, because regardless Congress and the Senate want to pass out free money. Nobody is going to turn it down, they are going to take it do with it want they want and worry about the consequences later. If you don’t see the resemblance to a gambler you are blind.

Spending money during a recession is only stopping what we all need to face, true change. Change that is not The One driven, change that will take us forward to a Free Capital Market. The bad businesses need to fail and go away; people need jobs that will last. Nothing about this is easy or painless, but with every indicator showing that every time someone from The One’s cabinet speaking the Dow tanks. The sooner The One, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi figure out they are the problem the better off we will be, but like stubborn goats eating the wrong tree they refuse to see any mistake.

My schedule is really swamped right now but I am supporting a tea party. I doubt if I can leave the chicks, the goats, the kids and Hubby long enough to go to one but it doesn’t mean my heart is not longing to throw out tea bags just as my ancestors knew it was a raw deal I feel the need to protest.

Craft Day

I am always looking for new and different ideas. My original thought was to make some fake money, since that is about all we will have left! When I became sane again, I started looking for fun projects to make.

Here is the first one. We have too many broken crayons, and Sconicle is no longer crayon happy. I hate to throw away perfectly good crayons, and I do have younger nieces and nephews that might enjoy them in another way.

ReUse ReMake CrayonsMore DIY How To Projects

Then for another project, I love rock formations. What is better than amethyst? Amethyst that cleans you!

Create your own quick soap (or other craft) moldsMore DIY How To Projects

Now you go find some great projects that would be fun to do together!

Poop Free

There is only so much bull poop I can take, after feeding the chickens, the goats and dodging cow poop I opted for a night of The One free! I needed some relax time, not stress time. I highly doubt anyone that tells a farmer we will get a tax break.

I found somewhere a wonderful link about the changes America has gone through in a very brief graphic way. Go here to see the changes.

Yesterday somewhere I found a link where you can read free books online. It was under a Kindle 2 alternative. There is nothing better than free in my book, no going to the library. No wishing your library were better at having books you wanted to read. Nope you go online look for the book and start reading! Go here and see what you can find.

Sconicle has been sick, Gator was sick and he gave me the virus, then Hubby then of course, Sconicle was going to deal with it as well. Gator and Sconicle had to get some meds and a doctor visit. It is so refreshing when Sconicle feels good, after being sick for almost a week. He works so much faster and is so much happier. Me I am thrilled everyone is well, and my time is not spent trying to figure out how to get everyone healthy.

Last night we helped Hubby work on a pipe at the farm. It is fun to see a thing that you know hasn’t been seen by human eyes in 70 years. The pipe was near a cistern, and the cement was dated 1934. While he and Gator were struggling to take apart the pipe, Sconicle, Pancho, Lefty and I looked around for unique things from 1934. You never know what you will find there, I am surprised every time. We think of it as treasure hunts, that way the work is more interesting.

Well the chicks are waiting my getting the kids there, have a great day!

100% Texan

My sons have been singing this song for a few years, right now as we face economic turmoil I am a Proud Texan. I am a Native Texan, and that is my heritage.

So I thought I would take you through the song and what happens when Texas gets contagious!

So we start with the pure video of Kevin Fowler 100% Texan

Now watch it being sung for Texans in Lewisville Texas, home of the Fighting Farmers.

Yep it is a bit rowdier. Now look what I found a line dancing group somewhere in France. It is a bit stiff, they need to relax and enjoy the music, but yet again not Texans but love the song.

This style is a bit more Texan like. I prefer some different boots, but that is me.

Yep Kevin is the author of another great tune Beer, Bait and Ammo!

I love Texas! 100% Texan till I die!

King George has a new hit! Since I have seen his boat, it would not be a bad trip at all!

Tea Party

I have been busy. Our taxes are done, Dunk taxes are done. I don’t know about you but between the stimulus package, the Geithner lack of paying taxes, Daschle not paying taxes, and the mortgage bailout I am bummed out. I feel like we the paying few are a small yet uncounted number.

The reason our credit card bills got so high was because when Hubby was off work we had to buy things, our mortgage, county taxes, school taxes, and income taxes were always paid. We did our best to do the right thing, and we get absolutely nothing for it. It wasn’t long ago I wrote about no such thing as a free lunch, and while I don’t think government handouts are a great idea, if the government is only going to reward bad behavior why work so hard to pay everything? It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that those on food stamps get more food, those with WIC get more food, those who bought huge houses get help but humble normal paying people get squat!

I have no answers only complaints, and the idea of a tea party is not something I am against. If you study our history, we fought Britain for fewer reasons. The goods locals produced could not be sold because they were grown locally and not British products. That is how I feel, what we do well has been thrown aside. The UAW workers get premium health insurance for life, most would love to have any insurance at all. The UAW has broken the car makers, and yet they refuse to stand up and say no more!

America has had a history of great innovations, tremendous knack for knowing how to work harder and smarter. If you take away the need to or the honor of it, why bother even working. Quit paying your mortgage, don’t pay IRS and call the One. He seems to want to help everyone refusing to do anything to help themselves.

If this type of rant helps you, I encourage you to write one. I think if we all speak out maybe just maybe the media will cover us 1% of the time they are chasing The One who never seems to stay at the Whitehouse.

See how frustrated most people are!

Taking Chance

There are a few stories that in my journey of life that stick with me. When GaGa passed away last year, her son told me such a story that moved me. GaGa’s son is an airline pilot, a man I have known for most of my life. He is a man I respect and trust. He has worked harder than any person I know to get to where he is, he started out as a police officer, and ended up in Naval Flight training school. So now as a retired Navy officer and a current airplane pilot he told a group of us about the transfers of military men and women coming home. He has seen it happen more than a few times. Since he used to fly the carrier flights to stations all over the world, cargo is something he just got to used to. But taking a fallen soldier back home is something that moves him each and every time. The interesting point is how he says the passengers act when they know a fallen soldier is on board. I found his recount touching. I wish I could do it justice. I know when I heard it I thought it was one of the best representations of what every fallen hero deserves.

I am thrilled to say that HBO Films saw what I saw, and one man was sweet enough to write down his journey.

It is with pleasure that I share a site that has video of the upcoming movie Taking Chance. Click HERE. Be sure to click on the behind to scenes to meet the real Lt. Colonel Michael Strobl. He speaks of taking Chance Phelps back home.

Remember each and every man or woman that is killed overseas has this process. As we go about our daily lives, those that are grieving for their boys and girls to come back home with honor can know during the journey their babies are treated with respect and honor. It is by far the least that we can do for the people that keep us safe at home.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Got my Jeans On

I have been very busy. Dunk’s truck needs some work, so I had to take him back to school and back. A wonderful short six hour trip was done in a few short six hours. There are times with Hubby that he is too busy to do the farm feeding. So I have to help the boys pick up the slack, and this week is filled with us doing that.

My day was a whirlwind between the college drive, parent teacher conferences and feeding of the animals. Not to mention feeding my family.

Don’t think I didn’t think of my blog, I did just couldn’t find the time to do anything about it!

This picture is one of Dunk’s favorites. He is in the tractor plowing, you can see the plow behind him, and he is carefully trying to stay in line. Anyway I thought I would show my readers Dunk in action.

I did some jean shopping Sunday, good gravy jeans have gone up. Once you have four people with holey jeans you have to buy some. I bought two pair instead of three pair this time. Hopefully the two pair will last some time! Dunk has actually found a brand at Wal-Mart that is cheap and he likes. His were the cheapest! If I had bought the jeans that fit Sconicle at Wal-Mart his would have been the most expensive! I am going to the local farm supply store and getting a bargain.

There is a lesson to be learned there, Academy had been the cheapest on Wrangler jeans. Wal-Mart used to not carry the particular style, now they do but they have very few sizes. For kids jeans, good luck finding a cheap price! Wrangler kids jeans are high! It is the only brand that Sconicle to fit into easily everytime! All other brands are too wide, legs are too short or some wierd look on him. Sconicle is a tall lanky kid, and apparently that size is not easy to fit!
