Heirloom Tomatoes

My sister in law is a fabulous cook. She uses many ideas from Martha Stewart. She was a home economics teacher years ago, she got out of home ec but her ability to make the perfect dish is legendary in our family. If you are a family gathering and somebody says Aunt L made a dish it is gone quickly.

I asked her take on the Heirloom tomatoes, she would know she grows her own tomatoes. Her taste buds to me are better than most. Celebrity tomato is a family favorite as a hybrid seed. Her take is that Heirloom is nostalgic but for the taste you cannot replace the flavor of a homegrown celebrity tomato.

Yes she uses Toopsy Turvey to grow her tomatoes in town, in her country place she uses the Water Wells where the tomatoes were enclosed in water tubes from wind and sun. Central Texas heat is too much for tomatoes right now hers are gone now.

My point is from time to time you will hear about “great new tasting” veggies, don’t believe everything you hear. A homegrown cheap tomato is better than a fancy one at a store at a fancy price.

That is in a nutshell is what my blog is about, what can I figure out that will save you money long term. Don’t waste money if you don’t have to. I am also open to questions about products, or ways to save money if they work. If I don’t know the answer I will find someone who does!
